5th Grade

We have started recorder in 5th grade. Students need to bring their recorder to class each music class. If a child doesn't have their recorder, they can't fully participate in the class activities. In 5th grade we will be spending a few class sessions reviewing the notes B, A, G. These are notes that were learned in 4th grade.
Below are the first two songs that we started to learn this week. We are focusing on maintaining proper breath support, producing a nice clear, pure sounds and being rhythmically accurate in our playing.
 Hot Cross Buns
Be cautious of the quarter rest. Remember, the end of the note is JUST as important as the beginning of the note. If there is a rest on a beat there should be NO SOUND.

Frog in the Meadow.
Be careful of measures 2 and 4 in this one! Going from B to G can be tricky at times. Practice with out playing, moving from B position to G. Make sure your holes are completely covered.

Claire de la lune
Here is the first belt quize for 5th grade. Make sure that you are playing the half notes the correct note length. Also, make sure that you observe the repeat at the end of the song. (If you play the whole piece perfectly, but don't do the repeat you won't pass)
